TYPE OF WORK
In October 2018, I organised an international debating conference in Rotterdam, in assignment of the European Youth Parliament. Between 13 and 21 October, around 300 young people between 16 and 24 came together to talk about European issues on a global level. This event was supported by large organisations such as the Port of Rotterdam, the UNHCR and Uniper, but also personally, for example, by the CEO of Philips, Frans van Houten, the commissioner of the king of South Holland, Jaap Smit, and former prime minister Jan-Peter Balkenende.
The event was organised by young adults for young adults and aims to inspire young Europeans to think about the future of Europe under the theme “Discovering Global Europe”. After the conclusion of these debates, the results of the resolutions were deposited with various European bodies and the sponsors of the conference.
I was part of the core organising team of the event. I was responsible for building the conference’s vision and strategy, as well as maintaining them both. Being part of the coreteam, I was responsible for leading up to 24 people, managing all aspects of the conference.
